Technology is not for the poor ... local phone $35, cellphone $50, Internet cable
$50, TV cable $40 to $80, and mobile $50. One needs big pockets to accommodate all the
hands.
Thought ...You can't live (exist maybe) on Social Security so why do you have to keep
paying into the system if you work while you collect that small amount?
Love, Hate, Morals .... invention or discovery? I don't know but be careful what
you choose. Oh well, 1/137 says it all.
Does anyone know how much tax we really pay when considering all the hidden taxes?
On the bright side (pun) we are all made of stars and we are older in material makeup
than the Solar System.

I just finished reading the "Science Times". Dark Matter, neutrinos and Quantum
Mechanics are always a test of my faith. I don't know of any religion that is
not easier to believe in than the bleeding edge of science. Does one believe in
science or does one know science? After years of study I still don't know what
a Force or Energy is. I could give you dozens of formulas for both of them,
they would give you a lot of relationships but still not tell you what they are.
It's amusing to think that even in this day and age our schools still teach
a force as a push or a pull and energy as the ability to do work.

I like history in general because it's about my relatives. Think about it, for
thousands of years they survived wars, plagues, natural disasters, hostile
environments and the ambitions of other men. They all lived long enough to
have children and were lucky to have those children survive. My family tree
is still alive and well. History is about family and shouldn't be boring
to any student.

I don't know why but you can't get Listerine in Paris. How about a job Warner
Lambert.

How about a Web Site as a memorial ... another business for someone. My two sites
are quiet places, 2000 sessions/month on one and 4000 in the other. I think of
them as graves in a cemetery, like the du Montparnasse or the du Pere Lachaise.
People pass by but not being famous they don't leave the little notes. Yes, odd
as it may seem the web can be very private....as a big city can be a very lonely place.

Did the Galleries around 57th and Madison, NYC. Saw a nice Chess set. Made of glass
and very delicate ...$40,000... they had sold two. NYC is a great place, if money
is not a problem you can take your Hummer out in the afternoon and fill it with
the Art of the Masters. Just like going to the Supermarket.

Natural, I have a lot of trouble with that word. Only humans can perform
acts that are not natural ...Unnatural. Better yet it's immoral to perform
unnatural acts. However, to have sex in the middle of the street is a natural
act but immoral ,,, unless you're a dog. Dogs don't have to worry about morals
and they certainly can't perform unnatural acts. It's tough to be a human
and have to address all these problems. Yes, not easy when you have this god
complex. My opinion ... I think we all are as natural as a blade of grass but
then so is a Coke can.

Life after death? I think about death more than birth, after all I already did birth.
With out my senses working the Universe I experience is gone. I take a sound wave
and turn it into sound, a light waves into a visual experience. In death I cease to
experience in the only way I know, which is through the conversion of sensory data
by my active brain. As long as my brain is active it will generate a Universe even
when sensory data is absent (Sensory Deprivation Tanks) When my brain is gone so is
my ego world. I am also aware (indirectly) that there is more to me than just an
ego. The mites in my eyebrows, my mitochondria, with it's different DNA, all the
bacteria and virus. I am host to many life forms. I feel that I am a very special
and important part of nature, as all humans are. We are all Nature made conscious.
Most of the Universe is made of Dark Matter and Dark Energy; of which we know little.
I am more interested in the substance and quality of "Idea" My soul is my essence.
My essence is my ideas. I think and the Universe is. Well, this is why I think a lot
about death .... in all a pleasant topic.

Science and religion ... one keeps trying to assert itself right ... the other
keeps trying to prove it self wrong.

I asked a high school student if he knew what an atom was. His reply was "a
nucleus of protons and neutrons with orbits of encircling electrons". I then
asked why those protons didn't fly apart (like charges} and why an accelerating
electron (accelerating because it is always changing direction) didn't spiral
into the nucleus as it lost energy. Sorry to say he didn't know what I was
talking about. We need to give our students and teachers more Physics.

There is an old line that goes "Was you dare Charlie" I'm given a little piece
of the time line ... I know when it started .... I'm not exactly sure when it will
end .. sometime less than 20 years. I think of all the things that happened and
I wasn't there and all the things that will happen and I won't be there. You
know there are languages that don't have a past and future tense. I can see a certain
advantage to that.

I feel so sorry for the people who put the spam on the web .... every day they
send me a piece of their soul and I don't know what to do with it.

People talk about how great the old tube sound systems use to be. I'm not one
of them. However, I've been listening to a bunch of Caruso records, vintage
1908, on my Victor V with the big outside horn. No electronics here, to make
these records Caruso sang into a horn that vibrated a needle that in turn
made an analog track on a wax master. When I listen to these old records I can't
help experiencing a small part of the living Caruso. It's different from an LP or
CD .... some thing special.

Napoleon? ...The winter of 1812 in Russia was really quite mild. It wasn't
the cold but disease that killed his men. From 100,000 men he was down to less
than half by the middle of Nov. when the temperature dropped into the teens.
Old George Wash. Survived much worse weather. So much of what we learn about
Napoleon is just wrong. I still like the Able Gance movie "Napoleon" though.

History? I remember .... five cents .... a Subway ride, a bus ride, trolley car
ride, a candy bar, a couple of newspapers and a loosey cigarette, beer at Coney
Island, one scoop ice-cream cone, a coke, Hot Dog, pack of gum, toy soldier and a
Mellow Roll and much more.
